HKBN Caring for the Elderly

Elderly people suffering from cognitive disorder and movement system impairment rarely have contacts with the outside world, and are often alienated from the society. 17 HKBN Talents volunteered to design a 5-month programme for 20 elders living in the North District who had cognitive disorders. The volunteers paid visits to the elderly, taught them to play puzzle games on tablets and exercise their brain with new technology. An HKBN game group was designed and organised to encourage the elderly to play classic puzzle games at the elderly centre, and enjoy an outing on a half-day tour. Our Talents accompanied the elderly and their family in outdoor recreational activities to help them stay in touch with the society, improve their cognitive ability, and slow down brain degeneration through interaction and communication.
